A user had to write 50 category descriptions to earn the Green Thumb badge.
You do not receive a contribution because your category descriptions count toward a Green Thumb badge. Once you have 50 category suggestions you will receive a Green Thumb badge.
As of February 2011, the Green Thumb badge has been discontinued. The badge was earned by a user who wrote 50 category descriptions. Users who earned this badge in the past are welcome to keep them on their profile.
The Green Thumbs badge has now been discontinued. It was previously awarded to users who wrote 50 category descriptions.
When you submit a category description, it is emailed to a WikiAnswers Community Assistant who reviews and edits it. Most descriptions will be live on the site within a week of submitting them. Users who submit 50 category descriptions receive a "green thumb" badge on their bio page. For more on Community Assistants and badges, see the related links.

Yes, the Green Thumb badge was discontinued on February 15, 2011.According to a post on the Supervisors' forum by Crystal (WikiAnswers Community Coordinator):Hey folks!I'm writing about the Green Thumb badge which has historically been given out to those of you who have provided category descriptions for new and existing categories. We've actually reached a juncture in our travels where it is becoming nearly impossible to keep up with the inflow and outflow of requests, the backlog of categories that have existed for some time without descriptions and the more than 7,000 existing topic areas that now grace our site. Whew! We have sure come a long way!Right now we are working on getting all missing descriptions in the system and will be popping in new ones that meet certain criteria for search engines, etc. as the requests come in. Therefore, our Green Thumb badge will be going into retirement. For those of you who have earned it, well done! The badge will proudly remain on your profile for all to see. For those of you who believe you should have one, please let me know. We want you to get it before it heads off for a nice vacation in the Badge-amas.(See the Related questions and the Related links for more information about the history of the Green Thumb badge.)
Green Thumb.
One quick way to find categories that need descriptions is to look at the list of recently created categories. Go to your blue toolbar on the left hand side of the screen and click "Browse Categories." On the right side of the screen will be a list of categories recently created, most of which probably don't have descriptions yet. Otherwise, visit each category page and look at the top to see if a category is needed. Remember, if you submit 50 category descriptions you get a "Green Thumb" badge on your bio page!
Yes. The CAB (along with the CIB and EIB) is a Category 1 badge, of which only one may be worn. The CMB is a Category 2 badge, and can be worn along with a Category 1 badge.
No, you only wear one Category I badge.
Yes, and we were able to do the same with the BDU/DCU uniforms (once the CAB came into existence). The CAB is a Category 1 badge, whereas the CMB is a Category 2 badge.
The Top Contributor badges are given out with the WAmmys. When they come, so will your badge.
