Sailor Moon S refers to the third season of the Bishoujo Senshi Sailor Moon anime. The "S" is said to stand for "Super," because it is the first season in which we see Sailor Moon gain an upgraded transformation, when she is called Super Sailor Moon. This season is equivalent to the "Infinity" arc of the manga, though it did not have an equivalent in the live action television series (Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon). It was, however, utilized in many of the Sailor Moon musicals.
There are three movies in the Sailor Moon series, the first one is a Sailor Moon R movie but in the United States it was given the subtitle of "The Promise of the Rose," the second movie is a Sailor Moon S movie but in the United States it was given the English subtitle of "Hearts in Ice" and the third and final movie was a Sailor Moon SuperS movie which was given the English subtitle of "Black Dream Hole."
