In Greek mythology, there were twelve major gods, known as the Olympians. Zeus was the king of the gods, as well as the god of lightning and thunder. Hera was the goddess of marriage and family. In relation to Zeus, Hera was his wife. But in Greek mythology, Zeus has been known to be very unfaithful to Hera, and has sired many demigod (half god, half human) children. One of his most famous children is Heracles (The Greek name of Hercules. Heracles name was changed to Hercules after the Romans took over Greece and adopted their mythology.). Being the goddess of marriage, Hera was always very angry with Zeus for being unfaithful to her, and she has a history of bringing her wrath upon Zeus' demigod children and his many lovers.
Hera is the Greek goddess of marriage and the Queen of the Heavens. She is the daughter of Kronos and Rhea and one of Zeus's many wives. She had Ares (war god), Hebe (goddess of youth), and Eileithyia (goddess of birth-pain). According to different myths Hera had Hephaestus (god of the forge) by herself. She was hot tempered, often jealous, and beautiful. Hera is often depicted with a crown and a peacock. Hera's symbols are the peacock the animal she created, the cow because she turned one of Zeus's wives into a cow out of jealousy and asked Zeus for it as a pet, and the pomogranite.
Hera definitely had three kids with Zeus: Ares (Mars) (war god), Hebe (Juventas) (goddess of youth), and Eileithyia (Lucina) (goddess of birth-pain). According to different myths Hera had Hephaestus (god of the forge) by herself, or with Zeus.
Many Greek goddesses actually wear a diadem in Greek mythology, as it is an emblem for regal power or dignity. Back in Greek society however, the diadem also suggested a superhuman status, and demanded respect that was shown to the Gods. Given that Hera is the wife of Zeus, one can speculate that she wore a diadem to show that she is the Queen of the Gods, and therefore demands respect for her position. An interesting thing to note, however, is that many Gods connected with death and the afterlife were seen wearing diadems - feel free to find a connection between this fact and Hera.
