They didnt win any. It wasnt a stalemate. The Americans couldn;t get into Canada and that's what they were trying to do ifso factso they lost the war.
The above poster needs to read some books. The war was a stalemate by definition. as far as battles the United States won at least 43 including such majors in Canada as the Battle of the Thames, Battle of Newark, and the battle of York. The opposing side won at least 37. I know there were dozens and dozens of more battles I skimmed over my books to provide a quick answer. The battles list was about even. The British dominated the early going and faltered near the end. The Americans bumbled through the first few years and had a strong finish. the last battle was against the Sauk in 1818. The last vs the British was the USS Peacock defeating the EIC Nautilaus. Although it was indeed a draw you could argue the Americans came closer to winning they gained territory from all four of their enemies. All the scattered forts occupied south of the border since the revolution from England. The entire Great Lakes Region from the Native Americans. Florida from Spain. As well as Carelton Island and a mile northward along the Canadian city of Derbyline, and Lake Eerie from Canada. As far as failing in Canada the U.S. actually had held a sizable portion of Ontario at the wars end returned by terms of the treaty. However The English side Held two cities in Maine part of the Great Lakes region and had captured a fort in Alabama after the battle of New Orleans. The British/Canadian/Indian/Spanish side suffered some defeats and won some great victories Newark and York were burned but so were Washington and Buffalo. The Americans were stopped in their tracks at the windmills and The English stopped in theirs at Plattsburg, The Americans won big at the Thames only to be beaten soon thereafter. The English won big in Washington only to to flee a day or so later. The English devastated the Americans at Crysler's Farm and were themselves devastated in New Orleans. The British failed in their objective to create a native buffer nation the Americans failed to capture the entirety of Canada but succeeded in stopping British impresment. it was a draw thats how the war ended in a peace treaty of status quo you don't win status quo next revsions will be made of a UN victory in Korea because the Soviets and Chinese failed to take the south. I must point out this was not the USA vs Canada as so many want to make it.
USA vs Great Britain
Indians Indians
Canadian Volunteers Canadians (loyalists)
French Pirates Spain (co belligerent)
Freed Slaves Bermuda (support)
American Expats American Immigrants in Canada
so you see Americans fought on both sides and Canadians fought on both sides
I must admit this is a hasty and sloppy review but it is for the most part accurate the war was one of the most inconclusive wars in history it was a stalemate and nobody won. It should also be pointed out this was not the U.S. "war machine" this was a floundering grasping nation barely able to govern themselves fighting the world's superpower. It would be remiss not to point out the superpower was bogged down in a European war that they did in fact win handily.
Only two countries, the US and Great Britain, were officially at war. Canada at that time was British territory, and Canadians fought on the British side, as did native tribes rallied by the Shawnee chief Tecumseh, who had severe grievances with US expansion.

Great Britain and America fought in the war of 1812,but the force that decisively defeated the invading Americans in a series of battles consisted primarily of Canadians and natives, about three times as many as there were regular British troops. As a result, the American war aim of forcibly annexing Canada was thwarted..
