The countries of the Axis had 3 main countries: Germany, Japan, and Italy. Other countries, such as Hungary and Romania, fought against the Soviets, and both Denmark and Argentina were pro-Axis.

The Allies also consisted of 3 main lead countries: the UK, the US, and the Soviet Union. Also directly involved were the Free French, Poland, the Phillipines, and China.

The Axis powers of WW II were Germany, Italy, and Japan. It was called the Rome-Berlin-Tokyo axis. Note that Japan was never formally allied to Nazi Germany, but since they did have common enemies, they were allied in effect.
