By far the richest Ganesh pandals in the state this year, Lalbaug, which is in its 75th year, has spent a whopping Rs 3 crore on its grand décor. "People donate gold biscuits, rings and necklaces. They are later auctioned," President of Lalbaug Ganesh Mandal Sunil Joshi said. From hefty donations to an idol bedecked in jewels, Mumbai's Ganpati fervour is all about raking in the moolah. The Ganesha idol at the Goud Saraswat Brahmin (GSB) mandal in Wadala has a golden touch, literally.
