one cup = 8 oz.

one pound = 16 oz.

one pound = 2 cups

Actually, it depends on the substance you are measuring. Because all ingredients have different densitys, there is no standard conversion of weight to volume measures. For example, a cup of lead (Pb) will weigh far more than a cup of chocolate mousse will. Due to this variation in the density of ingredients, it is not possible to give a standardised conversion of weight to volume measurements. Please state what ingredient you wish to convert next time, in order to get an accurate conversion. (The measurements above only work for fluids (such as water and milk, but nothing thicker)- they do not work for solid ingredients!)
