Two(2) There are Two and a Half (2.5) Dry Texas Pinto Beans (HEB Brand) in a one (1) Pound sack which will equal 6.5 Cups of Cooked Beans.

Place the pinto beans in a large pot and add 6 cups of cold tap water. Then let it boil for 2 minutes and let the beans stand unheated for an hour afterwards. Then begin browing bacon over medium heat and add onion to the pot. Then add the beans again and add a pinch of salt.
There are two cups in a pound of beans. A small bag of beans is generally 16 ounces, which measures out to two cups.
If you are cooking a lot of beans, let's say about 9-10 cups, you want to put them in a large pot, add maybe a tablespoon or two of salt, and let the beans cook for up to 3 hours. If the water runs low, add more water and turn up the heat just a little. Then you want to let the beans finish cooking by securing the lid and turning the heat off, just leave it on the stove.
A one pound bag of beans has about 2 cups of uncooked beans. When cooked it is 5-6 cups.

Sort and rinse the beans. Discard any beans that are shriveled or cracked. Add the beans to a large pot and cover them with water. The pot needs to be big enough to allow the dried beans to expand three times their size. You will need 6 to 8 cups of water per pound of dried pinto beans. Boil for the water three minutes and remove the pan from the heat. Cover the pot and allow the beans to sit for 1 to 4 hours, depending on how much time you have. One hour is enough time for the beans to soak, but more time can reduce how much gas the beans produce. Discard the soaking water. Rinse the beans one more time and then proceed to cook them as normal.
One pound of fresh green beans trimmed yields approximately 3 cups raw. One pound of fresh green beans trimmed and cooked yields about 2 cups.
A standard #10 (15 1/2) ounce can of beans, or any vegetable for that matter, contains about two cups of product. Figure 1/2 cup servings, so about four servings per can and therefore per pound. That works out to about 12-13 pounds wet for 50 people. Increase the quantity if your crowd really likes beans.
