If you are cooking a lot of beans, let's say about 9-10 cups, you want to put them in a large pot, add maybe a tablespoon or two of salt, and let the beans cook for up to 3 hours. If the water runs low, add more water and turn up the heat just a little. Then you want to let the beans finish cooking by securing the lid and turning the heat off, just leave it on the stove.

Put 2 cups of dried pinto beans and 6-7 cups of water and whatever spices or flavorings (ham, bacon, etc) you like. Cook for 10 hours on low or 6 hours on high. Salt during the last 30 minutes of cooking or after they are fully cooked.

You need to place your pinto beans in some kind of baking dish. You then can cover the beans with water and allow to slowly cook in your roaster oven.

Presoaked beans should be cooked 8 to 10 hours on low setting in a Crock Pot.
