Lincoln was shot at 10:15 PM on 14 April 1865 and was in custody by 7:00 AM on 26 April 1865. The total elapsed time between his escape from Ford's Theatre and the moment he was dragged wounded from the burning tobacco barn at Port Royal, Virginia is something like 11 days and 8 hours or 11.33 days.
They (Booth and Herold) had stopped briefly at Surratt's Tavern to pick up weapons and supplies before proceeding to the home of Doctor Mudd for treatment of Booth's broken leg on the 15th. They continued south to the home of Samuel Cox seeking help to cross the Potomac River, and spent 5 days in the swampy woods waiting for a boat. They made a navigation error and landed back in Maryland. Colpnel John Hughes gave them shelter until they could try the midnight crossing again. They slept in a slave cabin at the Lucas Farm on the 23rd and reached Garrett's Farm on 24 April where Herold surrendered to the Union Cavalry that surrounded them and Booth was killed on 26 April 1865.
it took them 12 days to catch him but they started putting posters for his capture out a few days after Lincoln's assassination but they were not needed because he was caught within the next few days.
