this depends on what you mean. for the moon to return from one phase to the same (for example new to new or full to full) it takes 29.53059 days (29 days, 12 hours, 44 minutes and 3 seconds).

this accounts for the rotation of the earth. so for all intents and purposes as viewed from the earth's surface- this is the best answer. if you watch and measure from anywhere on earth, this is the duration of one lunar orbit.

the nodal month, which is the duration the mood takes to travel from one node of its orbit to the same node is 27.21222 days.
