The top speed of a sailboat is calulated by multiplying 1.34 by the square root of the vessel's waterline length. So, if you had a 100ft boat, the square root of that is 10 and it's top speed would be 13-14 knots. A production 30 foot crusing sailboat would get about 7 knots. There are about 7432 Nautical Miles between Galveston, TX and Cape Town, South Africa. So divide that distance by your speed and divide that by 24 to get the number of days it would take in a best case scenario (great weather, perfect route, 24-hour control). 100 Footer at 13 Knots = 23.8 Days 30 Footer at 7 Knots = 44.2 Days Good luck with that.

In June it is winter in Cape Town. However, temperatures vary from day to day. It could be a cold, stormy and rainy day, but it also could be quite nice. Expect temperatures around 10-15 degrees, with some days that are warmer and some days that are colder.
The month of February, together with March, is characterised by the most pleasant weather at any time of the year in Cape Town. The days are warm and the evenings comfortable and the sea temperatures are still good for swimming, at least on the False Bay side. Cape Town experiences strong South-easterly winds during most of the summer, at times reaching velocities that can spoil your day outdoors. In the winter there are strong winds blowing from the Northwest which bring heavy rains. During the months of February and March Cape Town, however, has beautiful warm windless days that make it idyllic.
The Cape Doctor is a very strong, notorious south Easter wind that blows across Cape Town. It howls for days on end. Mostly comes blowing into town during Spring. Lifting up skirts, and in extreme cases, uproots old trees. At school we were told the wind clears the peninsula of all germs and pollutants.
Primarily because of the gale force North West winds that prevail during the winter, accompanied by heavy seas. In the days of sailing ships, many were wrecked around the Cape, but shipwrecks still occur in these modern times.
The weather in March is one of the best months with not much wind, sunny days and high temp.
