The normal gestation period for all the livebearers is around 30 days depending on temperature. They can however decide not to let the fry out if they feel that conditions are not right for their young. They have been known to hold onto their young for months until the female actually dies rather than giving birth to her fry.

Well my sword tail tail just had 34 babies and there doing great they lamly have about 1 to 211 but that is unlikely you should put the female into a separate tank when she is pregnant u can tell if she is if she is fat she will be pregnant 1to4weeks but mine was 5weeks when there born take the mother out of the tank other wise she will eat them make sure u feed them fry starter ask at the pet shop
