There should be information regarding the timing degree on a decal locaded under the hood.
There is no such thing as a timing gauge on a car. Timing is set with a tool called a timing light and a mechanic can do that for you and doesn't cost much money.
It is 8-10 degree before top dead center with engine warmed to operating temp., RPM's at the proper range and the check engine connector jumped at TE1 and E1.
