This question cannot be answered 100%, as at any given second, there may be a new religions starting or ending.

There are many hundreds of religions out there; some are very minor faiths with, perhaps only a few believers - the Temple of the Partridge Family comes to mind, some with none - you would be hard pressed to find believers in the Greco/Roman god systems.
Anyone can start a religion and you don't have to register anywhere(!) so the exact number can never be known. The US government recognises 98 religions. The top twenty religions of the world are:
# Christianity 1.9 billion # Islam 1.1 billion # Hinduism 781 million # Buddhism 324 million # Sikhism 19 million # Judaism 14 million # Bahá'í Faith 6.1 million # Confucianism 5.3 million # Jainism 4.9 million # Shinto 2.8 million # Chinese traditional (including Taoism and Confucianism): 394 million # Tribal religions (Shamanism, Animism): roughly 300 million # African traditional and diasporic (including Vodou): roughly 100 million[5] # Juche (North Korean state ideology): 19 million # Cao Dai: 4 million # Tenrikyo: 2 million # Neopaganism: 1 million # Unitarian Universalism: 800,000 # Rastafarianism: 600,000 # Scientology: 500,000 However, of these many are split into various sects - for example, Christianity would include Greek and Russian Orthadox, Methodist, Catholic, Protestant and so on.
This would depend on the definition of religion.
New cults are created, do they count as religions - if not, how many members do they need to garner to become a religion? Also difficult are religions that multiply by dividing - Protestants and Catholics are usually lumped together under Christianity, and so are Mormons - but Mormons have their own holy book, so are they really the same?
There is also questions about some Oriental traditions, do they count as religion or philosophy? Buddhism in many ways is not necessarily a religion.
The so-called animistic or shamanistic traditions are also difficult to count, do we consider there to be say, one West African religion, or should the various tribes' own religious traditions, similar but not identical, be counted separately? Same goes for other parts of the world, for example Native Americans.
In short: it is not possible to give a straightforward answer to this question.
