The day of rest is mentioned in Genesis 1 where our Father rested upon the 7th day. Note those days mentioned are defined in length in 2nd Peter Ch3. Therefore the time frame to men was 1000 years for each day. This means the day of rest was one thousand years long.

The whole of the biblical text covers a two week time frame.

The First week being the creation of this 2nd earth iteration (2 Peter 3 and Genesis 1)

The second week starting with the forming of the man to till the soil (eth-ha-adam). Genesis 2

We are upon the 6th day of that second week, which will wind to a close within 5 decades as this final generation comes to a close. Afterword a day of rest will occur with Jesus Christ as mentioned in Revelation 20

What are the characteristics of the seventh day adventist?

I believe there are many strengths to the Seventh-day Adventist church. Our faith stands on the Bible and the Bible alone. Not man-made laws and rituals that have changed the face of true Christianity over the decades. We find total rest on the Sabbath day. Resting from worldly worries and stresses. Friday night to Saturday night are our 24 hrs of rest and worship, not just the couple hours during the church service like many religions. All our fundamental beliefs are found and supported in the Bible....that is the greatest strength of all. What greater strength can there be than the word of God?
