As of September 9, 2016, the strongest earthquake over the last 7 days was Magnitude 6.3 - 189km ESE of Nikol'skoye, Russia on September 5th. This will change every week so visit the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) Earthquake Hazards Program for lists of recent and historic earthquakes around the world. There is also an earthquake map that shows the most recent earthquakes for last 1 day, 7-days, or 30-days.

According to the USGS, there are over a million earthquakes each year around the world -- that's on average 3,561 per day or over 100,000 per month. Only a portion of these are recorded (~20 - 30K per year) because most occur over remote areas or in the ocean or have very small magnitudes.
