Have a sword. make an enchanting table. Have levels. Put the sword in the enchanting table. Click a available enchantment. BOOM a better sword. Bookshelfs gives you better enchantments for higher levels
fortune and unbreakable
You can't. Enchantments are only for tools and armor for now.
If you are asking about enchantments, you have to build an enchantment table first. Then, you can enchant weapons and armor
You can't unless you have a mod.

The heirloom gear is considered ilevel 1 no matter what level you use it at. This means that the only enchantments that you can put on it are Pre-BC enchantments (the ones that don't have a level restriction).
All I know is that they are letters, on the wiki there is what shapes are what letters, but those words don't tell you what types of enchantments you are going to get. Say you put a helmet in, and click level 30, you might get Aqua Affinity I but the transalated words won't tell you that.
You need to have downloaded Minecraft, of course. To use the anvil, you right-click the anvil, and it brings up a box, + sign, another box, right arrow, and a third box. There are many things you can put in an anvil. Usually, I put a weapon and an enchanted book. Example: DIAMOND SWORD + ENCHANTED BOOK (Power V) --> DIAMOND SWORD (Power V) Also, you can repair things on an anvil. I am not sure how to do that, so I would love that someone (please be understandable) would post how.
The same way you enchant other tools. Put it in an enchantment table and pick one of the three enchantments. The more bookcases around it, the better enchnatments you get. If you want, you can go look at the wiki to predict what your enchantment is going to be, but it's a long, long process.
