You would need to take the passenger test (which includes a written test and a road test), and complete a background check. At this point, you would receive an "S" endorsement (rather than a "P" endorsement). Your CDL would have to be a class appropriate to the vehicle being driven (Class C for vehicles up to 26,000 lbs. GVWR, Class B for vehicles 26,001 GVWR and higher), and, if it's equipped with air brakes, you need to complete the written air brakes test and road test in an air-brake equipped vehicle (there is no endorsement for air brakes - if you don't meet that criteria, you get a restriction barring you from operating an air brake equipped commercial vehicle).
