It depends on habitat and environmental constraints. Whitetail deer in good habitat with an abundance of quality forage typically have 2-3 fawns that can potentially reach maturity. Having 4 would be extreemly rare but not impossible. It poorer habitat, 1 fawn is more common, with typically a lower recruitment (reaching sexual maturity) rate.
White tail deer can have as few as 1 and as many as 5 fawns. The normal is 2 to 3. This year at our preserve we have had several sets of triplets. It is usually determined by the amount of food available, age of the mother.
A doe typically only has a single fawn at a time. During plentiful years, she may have twins, and I have heard of triplets in moose (which are a species of deer). A doe will probably have fawns almost every year from the time she reaches sexual maturity, which may only be four to five years, if she's lucky. Deer CAN live up to nearly 20 years, however.
A mother deer gives birth to one fawn at a time. Most large herbivorous mammals only give birth to one baby at a time. Large carnivores, such as lions and wolves, however, still have litters with multiple offspring.
Usually they have one at a time, twins are much less common.
Up to three. Usually a doe will only have one or two at a time though.

either fawns or whitetail fawns
Deer are actually very much like humans when it comes offspring. Most humans give birth to 1 or two children, with three children being uncommon. Deer are the same, as they generally give birth to 1 or two "fawns", with three being rare. Of course, with today's media, we are likely to see a deer give brith to 8 fawns... lol jk.
