The Federal Circuit is unique in that it has nationwide jurisdiction but only as to certain types of matters.

There are thirteen federal circuit courts, called the US Courts of Appeals Circuit Courts. Twelve have territorial jurisdiction over cases being appealed from US District Courts within their regions. The thirteenth, the US Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit, has nationwide subject-matter jurisdiction over certain classes of cases, like patent disputes, international trade issues, certain monetary claims against the United States, etc.
