There are always germs in our bodies and on our hands, but that increases if you do something like go to the toilet and do not wash your hands. There are more than millions of germs in our hands when we do not wash. It is also so you don't get ill if you eat food soon after your 'trip'.

The germs on your hands will spread to every surface you touch. So the door handle in the bathroom will be full of germs. Any one who touches it after that will take some of the germs with them. everything they touch will also leave some germs behind. Also if you touch someone else you will pass germs to them as well.
There are a lot of germs at school. Everything you touch is probably very germy. I recommend that you wash your hands everytime you go to the bathroom!

Hand washing is the best way to prevent germs from spreading. Think of how many things you do with your hands ... it's a lot! While cooking food will remove many germs you are touching the food after it has been cooked. If you have not washed your hands before preparing a meal, germs can be transfered to your cutting board, knives, counter, plates and food. By handwashing before cooking, it prevents germs from hands being transfered to mouths and into your body.
