Kids older than two years of age should eat no more than 30% total fat of their daily total calorie intake. For example, the Mayo Clinic recommends that girls between 4-8 take in between 1200-1800 calories a day depending upon their age, weight, and activity level. This means that if my active 6 year old daughter eats about 1500 calories a day, a little less than 500 of those calories should be from fat. Labels will show total calories and fat from calories per serving, which helps make this tricky equation easier.

How many grans of fat a kid should have each day depends on their age and caloric requirements. Children need anything between 25 and 40 percent of their daily calorie requirements to come from fat. For example, a 5 year old child should have between 40 and 56 grams of fat per day.

That last answer was not accurate because sometimes people don't have time to get to a doctor or anything. How many grams of fat should an 11 year old have per day? Well, I am 11 and I'm trying to lose a few pounds. And I usually have 20-25 grams of fat per day. ( I lost 20 pounds in a whole summer vacation from school :D) I also take in at the MOST 1,800 calories I barely ever take in that much but for starters you can. Try going down 100 calories per day from where you first started. Do that for 5 days. Then stick with the 1,800 calories per day. Well, there you go. Wish you luck!

You do not have to worry about a child getting enough fat. We are genetically programmed to like fats, dating back to the days when humans had trouble getting enough to eat, but that is no longer the case in developed countries. Western diets provide entirely too much fat. Like adults, children should be on low-fat, low-sweet diets, with most of their calories from complex carbohydrates and protein.
