Commercial drivers are generally limited to no more than 11 hours of actual driving time before taking a rest of at least 10 consecutive hours. They're also required to take a rest break of at least 30 minutes after 8 hours of being on duty before they can resume driving, and they're not allowed to drive past a certain point after coming on-duty, even if they spent most of that time doing something other than driving (exactly how many hours this is depends on what they're hauling, passengers or cargo). There are some exceptions to this, but that's the basic rules.As a private driver, you can drive however long you can drive, but nearly all jurisdictions have a law called something along the lines of "careless and imprudent" driving, which means that if a policeman notices you driving erratically, he can pull you over. It doesn't matter why you were doing it, since it's designed to get dangerous drivers off the road without going into too many details about the cause. Continuing to drive past the point where you're too tired to do so safely is definitely "careless and imprudent."
