This is like asking what the time difference is between GMT and The All Stars Marching Band. The Zulu nation is not a place but a group of people. Zulu means "the Heavens' and was first formed several hundred years ago by Chaka. Chaka, like many men of destiny, decided that he would bring the tribes together. He probably had no concept of Africa as a continent or what the size and scope of it was. He decided to form Impis (regiments) armed with the famous Assegai (short broad bladed spear of Chaka's design) which could suck the blood out of a man. Chaka went from tribe to tribe telling the Induana (headman) to "Join me or die." Many did in fact join Chaka's new nation, but many refused and died leaving their women and cattle as spoils of war. There are many brutal but heroic stories of Chaka's battles and bloody stories of his torture of prisoners. It could be argued that Zulu is more of a 'political' group as it is not from any one region nor tribe nor ancestry but was born through the idea and drive of one man and his followers. When the white man arrived in South Africa as we know it today, it was pretty much empty of indigenous people after Chaka and his Impis had gone through it. Since the days of Chaka and his descendants like Mzikazali (if I've got the spelling right) many people have been born who call themselves 'Zulu', but generally say they are 'of Zulu' meaning they are related back to the Impis of Chaka or subsequent kings. Their racial origins will actually be one of many African races most of which I can't spell like Bechuana, Matabele, Hottentot, and many more.

Zulu time and Greenwich Mean Time are the exact same thing, as is typical of the military, it coined its own term. Since Greenwich is the site of the "zero meridian," they called GMT "Zero Time" or simply "Z- Time." In the phonetic alphabet that the flyers of the time used to make themselves understood on their radios, "Z" became "Zebra." When the alphabet was changed, the call sign became "Zulu." Clarification: They are not *exactly* the same thing. Zulu time does not shift with daylight savings time. It is a constant time that the military uses and in fact coined a term for. They did not just call GMT by a new name, they created a new standard time.
To convert military time to Zulu time, you need to account for the time zone difference between the military time zone and Coordinated Universal Time (Zulu time). Simply subtract the military time zone offset from the military time to get Zulu time. For example, if the military time is in GMT+1, subtract 1 hour from the military time to get Zulu time.
