A movie of that size no matter what the file extension, would be less than 1 second, and wouldn't even be watchable. Pictures are rarely that size, and so a movie consisting of many frames, which are just images, would never be that size. what you downloaded is most likely a virus, or a torrent for a movie.

Torrents are what you can use to download movies, music, games, applications, e-books, and more. to use them, you'd need a program like Azereus, or Utorrent. I'd recommend Utorrent. A movie of normal length depends upon the quality of the video, and the file format (it's extension, for example some popular video extensions: .DivX .Xvid .MP4 .AVI .WMV). Most movies you would download off the internet have been shrunk down to 700 MB by lowering the quality, but just because they lowered it doesn't mean it's bad, I think it's good quality.

If you wanted to download one of better quality, it would take, in my opinion, too long to download. to get an idea of the size of movies that you'd buy in a store, CDs are 700 MB, DVD's are 4.7 GB, Blu Ray Discs are 25 GB, Dual Layer DVDs/ DVD 9s are 8.5 GB, and Dual Layer Blu Ray Discs are 50 GB. Remember, just because they are burned on that specific type of media doesn't mean that the movie file is that big. The movie would most likely be burned on the smallest media disc in virtual size to save money for them without having to lower the video quality.
