Are you referring to Immigration to the US? The only period of time where immigration was dominated by Northern Europe was the mid-1800s. So after this time period (around 1880), the number of immigrants from Northern Europe dropped in percentage (not necessarily numbers as they were being overshadowed by other groups now). However, immigration from Northern Europe, and all of Europe mostly, to the US has decreased dramatically and is being wildly overshadowed by other ethnicities coming mainly from Latin America or the Far East.
"Old" immigrants were from Western Europe, and "new" immigrants were from eastern and southern Europe.
In the 1800's, most immigrants came from Europe to the United States.
