On September 8th, Miners in the southern African kingdom of Lesotho found one of the world's largest diamonds, a white gem weighing 478 karats
In 1905, the Cullinan diamond was unearthed. Uncut weight was 3,106 carats. It was cut into quite a few stones, including the pear shaped shaped Cullinan I, aka The Great Star of Africa, measured at 530 carats.
