== == The Holocaust is the term generally used to describe a program of genocide in Nazi Germany. Some limit the term to describe the systematic killing of European Jews but prisoners of war, communists, ethnic Poles (and other Slavic peoples), the disabled, homosexuals and political and religious people who disagreed with Nazi policies were also killed. Overall estimates indicate that 11 million people died.

Families were arrested as units for transportation to the camps so there were a number of "little girls" included in the total number

Limiting ourselves to Jewish families who would be te most likely to have children of the groups previously noted and assuming that families had two or three children this would represent up to 3 million children in the 6 million processed through the camps. Since arrivals were sorted by ability to work, smaller children (under 10) were preferentially killed along with the old. Boys and girls would have a 1:1 ratio. This would probably work out to 1 million or so little girls, many of whom were killed directly. Of the remaining few hundred thousand or so who were strong enough to be useful - they were put in a program of starvation and being worked to death. Survival rates were less than 50%.

The high end of the estimate would be 100,000 female children surviving.

Depressingly, the liberators of the camps noted that child survivors (sex not stated) were in the low hundreds. Not very many Jewish people survived the holocaust. A few survivors were Nelly S. Toll, Elly Gross, and Jack Gruener. Nelly S. Toll was in hiding. Jack Gruener was in a concentration camp and was on a death march. Elly Gross was in hiding.

Who took the pictures from the Holocaust?

The Holocaust was the Nazi regime's shameful 'secret', and photography was forbidden in the camps and ghettos. However, some SS men did take a few photos, and there were a few carefully chosen 'official' photos of what the Nazis called 'Resettlement in Eastern Europe'. In the Lodz Ghetto, the head of the Jewish Council had a kind of photographic record kept, but this was most unusual. Many of the negatives have survived.

The actual number of people cannot be accounted for in that case.
