This exemption helps ensure that BITS-Pilani retain a significant number (about 20-25) of first rank holders from various boards across the country. The toppers are free to choose any discipline offered in all campuses. Acceptance rate in BITS is very low, (Selectivity < 2.08% in 2007) making it one of the most selective in India to get admission into.
