The executive branch of the US government is all the government except the Legislature and its employees and the judicial system (i.e. courts and judges)

The President of the US is the chief of the executive branch. He and the vice-president are the only elected members of this branch. The 15 cabinet secretaries are heads of the main executive departments. There are other agencies and offices as well. All have hundreds of employees all over the country. There is a vast array of government workers, most of whom work for the executive branch.
