Every motherboard is different depending upon which one you're using. Most of your basic motherboards have at least two memory slots and the more expensive for advanced motherboards have four or more. Now, how much memory does your computer use? If you're running a 32-bit operating system. I believe it will recognize a little bit less than 4 GB. If your computer is really old. It was lucky to recognize one gigabyte or maybe two gigabytes. If you're using a 64 bit operating system like Windows 7then your computer can recognize much more than 4 GB memory. So there are a few factors the age of your computer, the type of motherboard you have, what the bios will allow, and what type of memory you put into the slots. Your computer will use all the memory that you had been there as long as the right type of memory. Adding memory to a computer is one of the best ways to improve speed of your PC.
