If a "super volcano" erupted, depending on how big you are actually talking, the immediate area of the volcano would be engulfed in ash, rock, and of course lava. If you survived that the ash cloud would kill you. If the eruption was big enough, the ash cloud could cover half the world or even more and it could cause an ice age to happen in the future that could kill off the rest of the human race if they were not prepared.
