3,010 miles taking this route:

  1. Take I-40 WEST, from RALEIGH, to U.S. 52 NORTH to MOUNT AIRY off EXIT 193B.
  2. Take U.S. 52 NORTH to I-77 NORTH to WYTHEVILLE, via I-74 WEST off EXIT 140.
  3. Take I-77 NORTH all the way up to I-80 OHIO TURNPIKE (toll) WEST to TOLEDO off EXIT 146 in OHIO. Follow signs.
  4. Take I-80 (and later I-80/90) WEST, on the OHIO TURNPIKE, to Indiana, where I-80/I-90 continue WEST as the TOLL ROAD.
  5. Continue WEST, on I-80/I-90 TOLL ROAD, to I-80/I-94 WEST at EXIT 21, outside of Chicago.
  6. Continue on I-80 WEST to I-294 NORTH to Wisconsin.
  7. Take I-294 NORTH TOLLWAY to I-90 WEST TOLLWAY to ROCKFORD.
  8. Take I-90 WEST to SEATTLE.
