The ships actual speed is unknown but based on the fact the same ship takes 23 hours to travel 902 nautical miles from Miami to san juan, the basic calculation allows us to estimate the ships average speed would be circa 39.2 nautical kilometres per hour.

Accepting this assumed speed as the average speed, we can expect the distance of San Juan to St tHomas to be approximately 588 nautical mile.

CORRECTION: Poster errs by switching from nautical miles to nautical kilometers (100 NM=115 statute miles=184Km). The 39.2 calculation would be knots (NM/hr, not NKm/hr). Poster also assumes ship is steaming at close to full throttle on both legs of the trip which is incorrect. Distance between San Juan PR & St. Thomas USVI is approx. 90 statute miles (78.2 NM, 144 Km).
