I own a 2001 Chevy caviler and my gas light came on when the gas gauge needle was just right above the red E line about .5 cm (so not by much,) from when the gas light came on I had just started driving and measured 22 miles that I was able to drive until I reached the closest gas station. By the time I reached the closest gas station the gas gauge needle was only realistically about .2 or .3 cm below the red E line on the gauge. But I would be willing to bet that it could of driven give or take another 5 or so. Hope this helps. Also, unsure if it matters that I was also needing an oil change at the time this took place. If that makes any difference in the distance I was able to drive basically on Empty in my 2001 Chevrolet Cavalier.
The Chevrolet Cavalier low gas warning light goes on when there is 1.5 gallons of gas left. The average Cavalier can go approximately 40 miles.
I recently porchased an 04 cavalier with the 2.2 ecotec engine. It gives me around 360 miles on a full tank but thats really pushing it
25 miles...but i wouldn't push it
1.5 gallons, enough to drive 45 miles highway or 30 city. Don't forget to fill up! ~Owner of a 2001 Chevy cavalier
You can't just drive and reset a computer code. First, of course, you have to repair the problem that set the code. If you have an OBD-II scan tool you can reset the light with it. If not, you can unhook the battery cable for a couple of minutes. When you hook the battery back up take the car for a drive...about 10 miles. Preferably with some of that on the highway. That's it. If you still have a check engine light come on you still have a problem to fix.
No, If it runs good just drive it; spend the money on something you need.

05 Feb05 I drove a 93 cavalier with a 2.2L automatic 1145 miles from N.H. to FLA. averaging 80MPH the whole trip, cost was $85.12 in gas @ $2.11/gallon. If you drive 1000 miles and average about 28 MPG and gas costs $2.95/gal, It would be about $106.20.
There is no average lifespan for a Chevy Cavalier as it depends on how well it is taken care of. Regardless, they can usually work well up to 200,000 mi. if they are checked and fixed routinely.
depends on your driving habits, size of fuel tank, and average fuel consumption.
