The amount of miles you can put on any vehicle has many depending factors. Here are some of those factors: (note-the order these are in does not determine the importance of the factor) 1. How the owner takes care of the vehicle (and I don't mean just oil changes and air filter changes).

2. Engine Build Quality (how well the engine is built).

3. Driving Skills of the Driver (not gunning it from every stop)

4. City vs. Highway Miles (stop and go can be hard on an engine)

5. If the vehicle is frequently used to pull a heavy load

6. Grade of Fuel Used (see owners manual for recommended octane rating)

7. Aerodynamics of vehicle (the more resistance you have, the harder the engine has to work at highway speeds; although this should effect it that much)

8. Weight of vehicle to power ratio (if vehicle is too heavy for engine, it will result in accelerated wear)

9. Transmission (lower geared vehicles start out easier, but have a harder time at highways speeds and vise versa for high geared trannies)

10. Constantly underinflated or overinflated tires (it's like riding a bike with tires that have no air - it isn't easy)

11. Engine Idle (unless warming up in winter, shut the engine off if you are not going to drive for a while) A common mileage range for modern cars is 100,000 - 200,000 miles (for a typical cars with a gas engine)

or 200,000 - 500,000 (for lighter duty diesels), and 700,000 - 1,200,000 for large commercial diesels

Some are higher depending on the above factors
