From Manchester to the CHANNEL TUNNEL it is about 285 miles taking this route:

  1. Take M62 or M56 from Manchester to M6 (S) to BIRMINGHAM (at J10 on M62; via A556 at J7 on M56).
  2. Take M6 (S) down to M1 to The SOUTH to LONDON, via M6 TOLL to bypass BIRMINGHAM.
  3. Take M1 (S) LONDON to M25 (to M20) to STANSTED AIRPORT and DARTFORD at J6A.
  4. Take M25, around LONDON, to M20 to DOVER and the CHANNEL TUNNEL at J3. This will be just past the DARTFORD CROSSING (toll).
  5. Take M20 to the CHANNEL TUNNEL at J11A. Alternatively, you could also take a FERRY from DOVER, by continuing on M20 & A20.
  6. Take the CHANNEL TUNNEL shuttle (recommended) or the DOVER - CALAIS FERRY (alternative) into CALAIS, France.

Once you are in Calais, France, it is about 870 kilometres (540 miles) taking this route:

  1. Take A16 BOULOGNE (and ROUEN), from Calais, down to A28 to ROUEN at SORTIE [EXIT] 23.
  2. Take A28 down to A10 to BORDEAUX, north of Tours, via A11 PARIS in Le Mans. NOTE: ONCE YOU HAVE GONE THRU THE TUNNEL IN ROUEN, IGNORE INITIAL SIGNS TO A13 LE MANS and CONTINUE STRAIGHT THRU, and THEN FOLLOW SIGNS TO A13 LE MANS, and then take A13 back to A28 LE MANS.
  3. Take A10 to Bordeaux.
