The route:

1) Take Florida's Turnpike north from Ft. Lauderdale through Orlando to I-75 NORTH north of Orlando.

2) Take I-75 NORTH to I-10 to JACKSONVILLE and TALLAHASSEE at EXIT 435. You want I-10 WEST to TALLAHASSEE.

3) Take I-10 WEST through Florida, Alabama and Mississippi, through Tallahassee, around Pensacola, through Mobile, AL, and around Gulfport, Biloxi and Bay St. Louis, MS to I-12 WEST to HAMMOND and BATON ROUGE at EXIT 267B near Slidell in Louisiana.

4) Bypass New Orleans by taking I-12 WEST and take I-12 WEST back to I-10 WEST in Baton Rouge. This is where I-12 ENDS.

5) Continue WEST on I-10 through Louisiana, through Baton Rouge, Lafayette and Lake Charles, LA, through Beaumont and Houston, TX, to I-410 at EXIT 581 in eastern San Antonio, TX. You want I-410 NORTH.

6) Take I-410 NORTH and then WEST around San Antonio back to I-10 WEST at EXIT 16 in northwestern San Antonio. You want I-10 at EXIT 16. You want I-10 WEST to EL PASO.

7) Continue on I-10 WEST through Texas, New Mexico and Arizona, through El Paso, TX, Las Cruces, NM, and Tucson and Phoenix, AZ to the 210 to PASADENA at EXIT 77B in Redlands, CA.

8) Take the 210 around Los Angeles to I-5 GOLDEN STATE FWY NORTH to SACRAMENTO.

9) Take I-5 NORTH to I-580 to TRACY and San Francisco at EXIT 446 (LEFT EXIT).

10) Take I-580 to Berkeley.
