New Jersey and New York share a border, so it is theoretically possible to be in both states at once.

Newark to Manhattan is 13 miles.

Atlantic City to Buffalo is 443 miles.

The answer you're looking for is probably somewhere in there.

Depending on where in jersey you are, your looking at a 2 HR to 2.5 HR drive. My suggestion is you leave at night, so you dont hit traffic on the jersey turnpike, then you can drive through the Goerge Washington Tunnel, pay some tolls (Max : $13 Worth Of Tolls one way from Jersey to NY), and then you will end up on the LIE ( Long Island Expressway). Pay close attention when driving, if you feel tired, stop and grab some coffee, oh and a $99 GPS System wont be a bad idea. Good Luck!

Jersey City is right across the Hudson River from Lower Manhattan. So, the distance between them is the width of the Hudson River, which between Jersey City and Lower Manhattan is a little less than a mile.

Exact Distances:
  • By I-78 via the Holland Tunnel - 1.043 miles
  • From the docks at Liberty State Park, NJ to point of the Esplanade at the Museum of Jewish Heritage at Battery Place - 0.806 miles (4254 feet 9½ inches)
