The 70mpg is a good average for most Helix scooters, but you can improve that by putting in the 31 gram weights and sacrificing some of the "out of the hole" pickup. Another option is to install the performance jets and a better stainless steel exhaust pipe and muffler. After all is done you will have about 20% more horsepower and not work the engine as much to get to speed. I did these improvements to my '86 and I now average 82mpg. NOTE: In the end it comes down to the nut on the bars and how they drive.
