If you live in the city at what age should you first walk your puppy?

It is best to wait until your puppy has had all of its shots. Typically 3 sets of puppy shots will do the trick. Your puppy's shots need to include Parvo. Parvo is deadly and fairly common (depending on your area). At 4 months old they are vaccinated against Rabies (some people walk their dogs before this shot). After your puppy is fully vaccinated start your walks. If you got your dog from a breeder, they can help you with common practices in puppy care and breed specific questions. Your vet is always a good resource and should be happy to answer any question you may have.

Can a puppy come in contact with fully vaccinated dogs?

If you know for a fact that the other dogs have been vaccinated and are healthy, then it' safe for your puppy to be around them. Your puppy should still be kept away from common dog toileting areas.

I had a puppy 2 months ago and he passed away from parvovirus. I have had my house bleached and steam cleaned. Can I bring a new puppy into my house if he has his first shots?

Ran out of space ... I had a puppy two months ago. He had to be put down from parvovirus. We have had our carpets steam cleaned and I have bleached the carpets and all of the other surfaces in the house. The couch has also been steam cleaned. We have thrown out everything the puppy has touched including his crates, toys, blankets, towels, pillows, etc. We have also bleached all of our bedding and replaced our duvet cover etc. We would like to bring a new puppy home in two weeks so it would almost be 3 months since the puppy with parvo was in the apartment. The new puppy would have his first shot and we do not plan on letting him outside until he has his three vaccines - he will pee on a pee pad for the first few months until he is fully vaccinated. Can we bring a new puppy home?

What is a perpetual puppy?

A Perpetual Puppy is a puppy bought online which is replaced by a new puppy every six months - so the owner always owns a puppy, and never an adult dog (unless choosing to keep the puppy beyond the first six months).
