There are around 26,000 to 30,000 in the wild. The largest part of that number are roaming the state of Nevada. For the mustangs that have been adopted I'm sure the BLM (Bureau of Land Management) would have records for these animals.
That's hard to answer every year Ford makes thousands of new ones, and people are always crashing them. So its really an imposible question to answer.
Sadly, less then 1,000 in the United States and about 100,000 around the world.

If I'm not mistaken, I believe that there are 5 generations of Ford Mustangs, dating back to the 1960s.
