There is no way to know. Some have been credited with writing what became books in the New Testament - e.g. John, Matthew, Peter, but we do not know with any certainty that they actually wrote these books. They all must have become excellent speakers in order to spread their gospel so quickly and so far, and must have had an excellent command of language even if they could not write and had to rely on others to put their sermons down on paper.

Not necessarily, not many people even rich people were literate a king might have had an adviser to read for him.

As far as i know more than 25% Indian people are literate. But please you clear it because I am not sure.
