According to the James Gray Distinguished Professor of Religious Studies, and current Head of the Religious Studies Department at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, Dr. Bart Ehrman, the following 13 books of the New Testament are in fact "Forged". This means that the author acted to deceive his reader into believing that he was someone else. In other words, he lied. The point is that 13 of 27 New Testament books are produced by liars and deceivers. Are we expected to honor the words of liars and cheats? Are we to assume that a god would sanction liars to produce deceitful works? Are these constructs, then, divinely inspired? I would suggest that the works of liars should be rejected by any honorable and honest person.

The forged books are: Acts, Ephesians, Colossians, 2 Thessalonians, 1 & 2 Timothy, Titus, Hebrews, James, 1 & 2 Peter, 1 John, and Jude.

This conclusion is reached through a process known as The Science of Textual Criticism. This is a process based on the question of what we can actually "know" historically about the history of The Bible using multiple scientific disciplines, and analyses of evidence which we have available from the history which we are studying.
