Good question - and there is more than one answer. It all depends on the species you see. In the UK we tend to get 2 common species - the Oriental Cockroach (Blatta orientalis) tends to lay one egg (oothecae) per month and this contains approximately 16 first stage cockroaches. The other common species in the UK is the German Cockroach. The female lays an egg case that contains between 30 and 40 first stage cockroach nymphs. Hope this helps.
