Actually, this is a difficult question to answer, because part of the president's duties includes welcoming visiting diplomats, dignitaries, and leaders of other countries. Thus, "parties" usually have an official purpose. As for which visitors were greeted with a dinner or a party, it becomes problematic to get an accurate count, since the news media tend to only focus on major events with major leaders, rather than on the smaller get-togethers. But from the news reports available to us, it does not seem that the Obamas have held an unusual amount of these parties, and the amount of entertaining they do is well within the amount done by previous presidents in the modern era.
