IN 2006 THERE WERE 5,702 REPORTED DEATHS. YET THAT NUMBER WAS ONLY BASED ON CERTAIN INSTANCES THE ACTUAL NUMBER WE BELIEVE IS SIGNIFICANTLY HIGHER BUT UNTIL IMPROVEMENTS ARE MADE TO INCLUDE ALL FATALITIES. THE TRUE NUMBER OF DEATHS REMAIN UNKNOWN.

That is according to the US Bureau of LAbor Statics and therefore is the number for the US only.
That's about 3 people a day, every day. Of course, these are the reported statistics to the US government. Undocumented workers are frequently injured or even killed on the job and the incident is never reported because the employer has not paid any taxes or insurance on the employee.
