From a statistically point of view, Belzec was the most 'efficient' extermination camp of all. In January 1943, when the camp had ceased to operate, the SS recorded the number of Jews killed there as 434,508.
There were only two known successful escapes - Rudolf Reger and Chaim Hirszman. However, Hirszman was murdered by Polish antisemites in 1946. In that year Reger emigrated to Canada. (There are stories about possibly 4 or 5 other escapes, but the escapers were caught in later round-ups ...)
