Does constipation mean pregnancy?

To understand constipation, it helps to know how the colon, or large intestine, works. As food moves through the colon, the colon absorbs water from the food while it forms waste products, or stool. Muscle contractions in the colon then push the stool toward the rectum. By the time stool reaches the rectum it is solid, because most of the water has been absorbed.Constipation occurs when the colon absorbs too much water or if the colons muscle contractions are slow or sluggish, causing the stool to move through the colon too slowly. As a result, stools can become hard and dry. Common causes of constipation arenot enough fiber in the dietlack of physical activity (especially in the elderly)medicationsmilkirritable bowel syndromechanges in life or routine such as pregnancy, aging, and travelabuse of laxativesignoring the urge to have a bowel movementdehydrationspecific diseases or conditions, such as stroke (most common)problems with the colon and rectumproblems with intestinal function (chronic idiopathic constipation)Not in itself. How much of the large intestine can be removed due to cancer?

Usually, about one fourth to one third of your colon is removed, but more or less tissue may be removed depending on the exact size and location of your cancer. The remaining sections of your colon are then reattached. Nearby lymph nodes are removed at this time as well. Most experts feel that taking out as many nearby lymph nodes as possible is important, but at least 12 should be removed.
